Summer is in full swing in the province and with the holidays fast approaching for many, we thought we’d offer you some simple tips to keep your Toyota running smoothly this summer. Although your vehicle is perfectly able to face the heat, humidity and torrential rains that characterize Ontarian summers, the following tips will help ensure that the summer unfolds swimmingly for your Toyota.

Perform recommended maintenance

The first and certainly the best advice is to carry out the recommended maintenance for your Toyota. These services check a host of components in your vehicle, in addition to ensuring that all fluids are at the correct levels. It’s always best to carry out maintenance before the heat arrives or certainly before going on vacation.

Check the wipers

Windshield wipers are not all created equal. Some perform better than others, especially in heavy rain. If your windshield wipers are not in good condition, it can affect visibility during a storm, so it’s a good idea to replace them if necessary.

Check tire pressure regularly

Temperature fluctuations and heat can affect your tire pressure. It is good practice to check the pressure from time to time in addition to checking if the tires are still in good general condition.

Take a look at the liquids

Normally this is done during routine maintenance. That said, you can also check the level of engine oil and many other fluids yourself. Before hitting the road, take a look under your hood!

Check the status of accessories

Accessories such as trailer hitches, roof boxes, and sports equipment racks are mainly used in the summer. If you haven’t used your accessories in a while, make sure everything is still in good condition before reinstalling them. You can also discuss with one of our advisors if your needs have changed in this regard.

By following these tips, you can travel with peace of mind, knowing your trip will go smoothly. If you’re planning a long road trip soon, entrust your vehicle to the experts at Dixie Toyota who will be happy to make sure that everything is in perfect condition.
